Digital banking security policy
We want to ensure that your online experience with us is safe, secure, and transacted with the utmost confidentiality. The following information addresses online security, encryption and our automatic signoff feature.
Online Security
When you use Redwood Credit Union's digital banking service, you can be sure your account transactions are being handled just as securely as if you were using our telephone banking, ATM, or branch services. Redwood Credit Union uses many security measures to protect your account information, including encryption and automatic sign off.
Encryption
The information you provide to us online is protected by TLS (Transport Layer Security). TLS is the leading security protocol for data transfer on the internet. This technology scrambles your account information as it moves between your PC's browser and RCU's computer systems. When information is scrambled, or encrypted in this way, it becomes nearly impossible for anyone other than Redwood Credit Union to read it. This secure session helps protect the safety and confidentiality of your information when you bank with us online. You must have TLS encryption version 1.2 or later to access RCU digital banking and RCU’s Bill Pay.
How can I tell if my data is being encrypted?
You can easily tell if your data is being encrypted. Just take a look for the lock symbol at the top or bottom of your browser window. If these icons are broken or not visible, then you are not in a secure session and information you submit is not encrypted.

Automatic Sign Off
You may not always be at your own computer when you use digital banking. Therefore, it's important to always exit and sign off when you are finished.
When using a computer, Redwood will automatically sign you off after 20 minutes of inactivity. The last page you viewed will remain visible on the screen.
The mobile app has automatic signoff 2 minutes after the app is closed.
